Task Lists on the Job: Getting the Honey-Do List Out of the Text Thread

The List Is the Job

When a customer books a half day, what they're really booking is a list: hang the mirror, fix the bifold door, re-caulk the tub, replace the bathroom fan cover, look at the gate latch. The list is the scope. If it lives in a text thread, the tech who shows up may never see it.

Where the List Goes

In HandymanBossPro the list goes in the job's notes when you book it. It shows on the tech's job card, right under the address. If the customer sends more items before the visit, the office adds them to the same job, so there is one list, not three versions in three places.

Ticking Tasks Off

On site, the tech opens the handyman checklist on the job and marks what was done: drywall, TV mounted and leveled, furniture assembled, fixtures swapped, doors and locks adjusted, caulking, deck or fence, gutters, small plumbing, small electrical, paint touch-up, photos, clean-up and the final walkthrough. There is also a count of tasks completed and a follow-up box.

The Follow-Up Box Matters

Half the value of a honey-do visit is what the tech notices. A soft spot in the subfloor by the tub. A second fence section leaning. A water stain on the ceiling. Written in the follow-up box, it shows up for the office as a lead for the next job instead of a comment nobody remembers.

Lists That Grow on Site

Customers add items once you're in the house. Decide your rule ahead of time: small items get done in the booked time, bigger ones get written up as a follow-up or a new estimate. The tech can note it on the job either way, so the office can quote it the same afternoon.
