Scheduling Handyman Jobs That Need Parts First

The Wasted Trip

The tech arrives to install a vanity faucet, and the faucet the customer ordered is still in transit. Or the special-order door slab is two weeks out. A wasted trip costs you an hour and the customer's confidence.

Hold Until the Part Is In

Keep parts-dependent jobs on the waiting list with a note like "waiting on faucet, customer ordering" and don't assign them a day yet. When the customer confirms delivery, schedule.

Customer-Supplied Items

For TV mounts, light fixtures and furniture assembly, ask in the night-before text: "Please have the TV, mount and any hardware out and ready." It catches missing pieces the night before instead of at the door.

Your Own Parts

If you're buying the part, note what and where on the job. The tech picks it up on the way or the night before. Log the cost in materials so it gets billed.

Bundle Store Runs

If three jobs this week need special parts from the same supply house, schedule them after a single planned stop instead of three separate runs.
