Scheduling Handyman Jobs by Neighborhood: The Circle Method

The Idea

Instead of scheduling jobs in the order they were called in, schedule them in the order they are on the map. A customer who waits two extra days to be grouped with neighbors usually doesn't mind, especially if you tell them why.

Drawing the Circle

On the HandymanBossPro Waiting List map, draw a circle around a subdivision, a cluster of streets or a ZIP code. Every waiting job inside is selected. Pick a van and a day, and they're assigned.

Neighborhood Days

Some handyman companies give each area a regular day: north side Mondays, east side Tuesdays. Customers learn the pattern, and repeat customers start asking for "your Tuesday".

Exceptions

Urgent jobs don't wait for a neighborhood day: a door that won't lock, a leaking supply line, a rental that needs to be ready for a move-in. Put those where they need to go, then fill around them.

Telling Customers

"We're in your area next Thursday" sounds better than "the earliest we can do is next Thursday". It's the same date, framed around the customer.
